Griffel Scholarship Now Available!
The 2012
IWGA Ann Griffel Scholarship application is now available for high school
senior girls who are continuing their education at a school in Iowa.
The due date for applications is March 15th!

Harmon Battles
Through the Bracket to Win Forever 39 Championship!
Sue Harmon of Slater made her
way through the championship bracket without a loss to win this year's
Forever 39 Championship. After shooting a 9-hole score of 41 in the
qualifying round, Harmon continued on to win her first round match 1-up
against Cindy Reinertsen of Waterloo, second round 4&3 against Elaine Ferin
of St. Marys, and then finished her third and final round 3&2 against Karol
Hare of Johnston.
Mary Sauter of Albia won the
first flight, Ila Gilbert of Ankeny won the second flight, Carol Batten won
the third flight, Carol Haupert of Ottumwa won the fourth flight, Deb
Smalley of Carlisle won the fifth flight, and Gail Wichman of Clarinda won
the sixth flight.

Garretts Come From
Behind to Take Home Wife Husband Title!
Peggy
and Chris Garrett of Marion shot a second round 73, 1-over par to win the
Wife Husband State Championship at Burlington GC. The couple had a total of
five birdies over their two 18-hole rounds and shot a consistent 75-73--148
to win by two strokes over the field. Coming in second in the Open Division
were Jill and Tom Blackwood of Burlington with a two round total of 150. The
duo improved by two strokes from their first round score shooting a 74
to make a move from third to their second place position. Following three
stokes behind the Blackwoods were Julie and Mike Davidson of Ankeny shooting
a 73-80--153.
Lois and
Jerry Graeve of Pleasant Hill came from tied at second place after round one
of the Super Senior Division to take the title. With a score of 91 for
the first round and an 84 for the final round to claim the Super Senior
Division by five strokes over Marianne and Jerry Sevier of Donnellson and
Joan and Ralph Stover of Clive who both tied with a two day total of 180.
The Sevier's took second place after the card back and the Stover's took
third.

Claim Four-Ball Title!
Schwartzkopf & Schroeder Take SeniorTitle
Kristin
Paulson of Ottumwa and Beth Wagner of Ankeny won the Open Division of the
2nd IWGA Four-Ball Championship. After round one they were the medalists
with a 6-under 30 - 31, 61 and shot a 36 - 36, 1-over par 72 for round two
to win by five strokes over Susan Kirshenman of Huxley and sister Sarah
Paulson of Ottumwa. Kirschenman and Paulson shot a 69 - 69, 138 for
Runners- Up. Janece Schwartzkopf of Stuart and Catherine Schroeder of Boone
shot consistent rounds of 75 - 75, for a 36-hole total of 150 to take the
Senior Division. Finishing three stroke behind were the medalists
after the round one, Ila
Gilbert of Ankeny and Janis Owens of Creston, who shot a 72 - 81, 153. See

Wakonda and
Sunnyside CC Take State Team Titles...
Wakonda
Club of Des Moines dominated the gross division of the 2011 Iowa Women's
State Team Play at Ames Golf & CC on August 1st with a team total of 237.
Leading the team was Fiona Watson with a 4-under par 69, followed by a 79
from Tish Boothe. Also on the team were Linda Craig and Emily Lerder.
Watson was our low gross medalist. The second place team in the gross
division was Ames Golf & CC with a team total of 239. Sunnyside CC in
Waterloo took the net division title with a team total of 207. Linda
Laylin led with a net score of 63, followed by teammate Jenny Graeser who
had a net score of 69. Also on the team was Cindy Reinertsen and Renea
Friedman. The low net medalist, after a card back, was Jan
Schwartzkopft of 5 by 80 Country Club in Menlo with a net score of 63.
Linda Laylin of Waterloo also had a net score of 63 for the tie. 5 by
80 CC took second place in the net division with a team score of 209.

Iowa Finishes
3rd at Junior 4-State...

Team Iowa finished third at
this year's Junior 4-State Event behind Nebraska and Missouri. The
tournament was held at Beatrice Country Club in Beatrice, Neb. This
year's team consisted of Jessie Sindlinger of Charles City, Susan
Kirschenman of Huxley, Taylor Van Dyk of Tama, Victoria Grasso of
Ankeny, and Kelsey Faiferlick of Fort Dodge.

Team Play is October 4 - 6 at The Landings Club (Palmetto Course) in
Savannah, Ga. If you are interested in representing the Iowa team,

Stuart held on to her lead at the Iowa Senior Women's Amateur firing a 4 over par, 75
for round one and following up with a 79 at the final round for a two
day total of 154. Rose Kubesheski of Dubuque and Kathy Fortune of
Rockwell City finished second, both with
a two day total of 158. Carroll Dethrow of Nevada held on to her
Super Senior Title from last year by shooting a 79 - 80, for a two day

Sindlinger Takes Iowa Junior Girls'
for Second Year...
Jessie
Sindlinger of Charles fires a two over par, 74, on the second day of the
2011 Junior Girls’ Championship to win the 16-18 division by ten strokes.
Jessie posted a two day total of 154 at Lake Panorama National Golf Course,
shooting 80 the first day and 74 the second, to take home the first place
trophy for the second year in a row. Jessie had a total of five birdies
during the two day tournament, four of which came on the final day of the
competition. Coming in second at the Junior Girls’ event was Susan
Kirschenman of Huxley, scoring an 83 and an 81 for a two day total of 164.
In third for the 16-18 division, and only four strokes behind second place,
was Mackenzie Watts of Huxley shooting an 86 and an 82 to total 168 for the

Women's Amateur Public Links will take place at Otter Creek on Wednesday,
June 8th. There are three spots available to make the field at Bandon
