Hanigan of Dunlap and Kendra Hanson of Forest City were the only two Iowans that qualified for the 2007 USGA
Women's Amateur Public Links (WAPL) Championship. Local
qualifying was held at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny on June 2.
Hanigan earned medalist honors shooting an impressive score of 69 and
Hanson was runner-up with a 73.
The USGA WAPL Championship was held June 18-23 at Kearney Hills Golf Course in Lexington, Kentucky. The par 72 course played at 6125 yards and the field consisted of 154 players. Hanigan carded rounds of 81 and 82 while Hanson shot rounds of 79 and 81. Both girls failed to make the cut and did not advance to the match-play portion of the championship. Mina Harigae of Monterey, California won the tournament. |
