Barbara Svanoe of Urbandale
captured her first Iowa Senior Women's Amateur Championship title
shooting rounds of 79 and 76 at Atlantic Golf & Country Club.
Svanoe's final round started off hot with a birdie on the first hole.
She also made birdie on the par 4 16th which helped her to finish her
last five holes at even par. Jill Blackwood of Burlington and
Cindy Reinertsen of Jesup both shot a two-day total of 159 finishing in
a tie for second place.
Sara Landstrum of Norwalk successfully defended her Super Senior Division title shooting a two-day total of 161. Landstrum shot 84 the first day and was 3 shots back from the first round leader Judy McCarty of Fort Madison. Landstrum rallied back with a 77 on the final day to catch McCarty and secure her title. McCarty finished in second place shooting a 162 and Ginger Ahern of Emmetsburg was third with a 168. |
