Amateur in Hawkeye Territory!

Iowa State
golfer, Kristin Paulson, originally from Ottumwa, dominated Finkbine Golf
Course in her final round, firing a 2-under 70 to break away from the pack
and claim her Iowa Women's Amateur Title. Paulson recorded eight
birdies in her 54 holes and finished with a overall total of 217, four
strokes above runner-up Beth Wagner of Ankeny. Paulson did not let
those colors black and gold keep her from owning up to her title of the 2010
Iowa Women's Amateur Champion. Beth Wagner, a soon-to-be high school
senior, held her own among many collegiate players and past champions by
firing a one-under 71 in the first round. Wagner stayed
consistent throughout the next two days, shooting two rounds of 75.
Finishing the tournament at 6-over-par was Rachel Hanigan, a South Dakota
State senior from Dunlap. Iowa State golfers seemed to dominate the
leader board during this year's championship, with Katelynn Hogenson,
originally from Muscatine, coming in with a 4th place finish. Hogenson
finished the tournament with a three round total of 8-over-par.
Last year's defending champion, Jenny Graeser of Cedar Falls, made her way
