Woman Player of the Year

Woman Player of the Year Point System

Point Total is determined by:

Total Points in IWGA/IGA Conducted Championships (Iowa  Women's Amateur, Women's Division of the IGA Match Play, Women's Division of the Iowa Mid-Amateur, IWGA Four-Ball and IWGA Junior Girls') plus bonus points (USGA events).

Points for 2011 will accumulate through the end of the USGA Women's Mid-Amateur Championship (September 22).  Points earned in National Events that end after September 22, 2011 will count toward the 2012 Woman Player of the Year race.

Player must be an Iowa resident, an individual member of the IWGA OR a member of a member club of the IWGA.

Points will not be awarded to amateur players who are not Iowa residents and IWGA members.  Positions will not be elevated in order to award those points.  For example: 3rd place points will be awarded the 3rd place finisher even if the 1st and 2nd place finishers are not IWGA members.

Bonus points are awarded based on final finish.  For example, a player who is a quarter-finalist in the US Women's Amateur will receive a total of 600 points, not 225+250+350+475+600.

Tiebreaker (in order):

1.      Points earned in the Iowa Women's Amateur Championship

2.     Points earned in the Women's Division of the IGA Match Play Championship

3.     Highest point total earned in a Remaining Point Event

4.        2nd highest point total earned in a Remaining Point Even

5.     3rd highest point total earned in a Remaining Point Event

The IWGA Four-Ball Championship is a FULL Point Event!  Points are awarded to each player based on team finish. For example, on the 1st place team, Player A receives 200 points and Player B receives 200 points.

The IWGA Board (R&C Committee) reserves the right to award points for outstanding achievements outside the points system.
